If the boiling points of the components in a mixture are very close (e.g., less than 20°C apart), fractional distillation becomes less effective, and separating the components can be challenging. In such cases, multiple distillations or other methods, such as vacuum distillation or azeotropic distillation, may be used to achieve better separation.
